Netflix Pricing Just Got Nasty...

You have all heard me rave about how much I adore and depend on my Netflix streaming. The ability to stream Netflix is one of the first things I look for in my Smart Devices (iPhones, Android Phones, Windows Phones, Nintendo Wii, Boxee Box) because we stream our children's videos and we love documentaries! I just got an e-mail from Netflix thanking me for my business and advising me that they are almost doubling what they charge me for my current service….a hug and a slap in the face and I am not sure if I want to turn the other cheek… Effective September 1, Netflix is separating unlimited DVDs by mail and unlimited streaming into two separate plans and charging $7.99 a month for each…almost double what I currently pay for both. I haven’t even been a customer for 6 months…boy do I feel like I got the bait-and-switch!

  • Unlimited Streaming (no DVDs) for $7.99 a month
  • Unlimited DVDs, 1 out at-a-time (no streaming) for $7.99 a month

And it only goes up from there!  I would say 'so what' and just cancel the DVDs BUT Netflix withholds a few seasons and a few episodes of major series as 'available on DVD only' which means if I just stream, I don't get the whole story. If anyone has suggestions for streaming services similar to Netflix, where I can get my ‘Law & Order’ fix on-demand, on any smart device, please post a comment and let me know…with this kind of price hike, I really want to know what my options are.

If you are a current Netflix customer and are not thrilled with your media costs nearly doubling, you can easily change or cancel your unlimited streaming plan, unlimited DVD plan, or both, by going to the plan changes page in your Netflix account or by calling Netflix at1-888-357-1516.
