Father’s day is this coming this Sunday and there are only a few shopping days left, and while only a procrastinator waits until the last week to get a gift, it’s never too late for us to tell you about a few great gift ideas. It encourages dad to be active by promptly him to know if he wants to go on a run, praising him when he does and will even track how fast and where he ran. He then can connect his watch to his computer and sync it with the Nike website so he can see a visual map of where he ran. Any dad would love to have this watch.

The next product to make this gift guide is also from TomTom. It’s the Go 2535M Live GPS Navigation System for automobiles. Radiris, one of our founders, loves her Go Live and never leaves home without it. Another great gift for dad, whether he travels, carpools or works from home is the Seagate GoFlex Satellite, an external 500 GB hard drive that dad can wirelessly connect to through his tablet, PC or smart phone. I am a sucker for relationships and love, it is in the crab in me, so you could imagine the excitement when I received the opportunity to read about TiVO’s new campaign: TURN ON THE LOVE

The TiVO Premiere is the “world’s first Smart DVR” that can stream music, movies, shows and web videos, in addition to recording your favorite TV shows, and even suggesting what you should be recording based on what you have been already.

How can this heat up your love life?

I recently received the Hauppauge HD PVR- Personal HDTV Recorder and had the privilege of un-boxing it. First off it was a very clean and simple for what seemed to be a complicated product for myself. The product is pretty small and light weight at 1 lb, 3 oz and 19.8cm wide x 17.3 cm deep x 7 cm high.

The small form factor makes it something that can be easily hidden for those who hate showing electronics out in the open, and I am one of those people.

When I unboxed the Hauppauge HD PVR- Personal HDTV Recorder I made an unboxing video with my Sony Webbie HD.

After I unboxed it, I began to set it up. The set up was not as hard as I thought it would be, although the first time I did mix up the cables by mistake. I swear some of the colors looked the same!? Or maybe I am going colorblind!   However once I got the colors sorted out and plugged the cables in correctly it was easy goings from there. 

After setting it up the first thing I did was record a movie in high-definition (HD).  Afterall it is an HD PVR. I was worried the process would be hard and confusing but it was simple and before I knew it I had a copy of a movie on my harddrive in High Def with a picture quality that was flawless!

I then loaded the Titan TV guide and it was simple and straight forward, once you set up an account with Titan TV (great another p/w to remember). With Titan TV, you are able to view your cable provider’s program guide, record shows remotely via pc or mobile device from any location in the world.

With the Hauppauge HD PVR you can record HD TV to your PC in 1080i resolution using the Hauppauge H.264 hardware compression.

This product worked perfectly and truly I have no complaints. I could see this product useful for someone who doesn’t want to spend money on TiVo or Sat/Cable DVR service, it is also great for people like my husband who travel a lot and might have forgotten to record an upcoming reality show, with the Titan TV service he can, even when he isn’t at home.

Unfortunately though, with me working from home and having and DVR service included with my Cable Television service, I do not have use for it. HOWEVER, as I mention before, this product is perfect for someone who doesn’t have TiVo or DVR or a frequent traveler who needs more time to catch up their favorite shows!
