Favorite Website of the Week: CyberMonday.com

by on November 29th, 2010

The Monday after Thanksgiving is always a huge day to shop online because most of us go back to work and (yup, you guessed it) get online. After retailers started catching on to this trend, they started calling it Cyber Monday and having ‘Black Friday’ deals on this day – this site brings you the best of the best. My apologies for not posting this prior to Black Friday – I just found out about it.

Happy Shopping!

Black Friday: Are you ready?

by on November 24th, 2010

Ladies!  Black Friday is only hours away.  Some stores are opening at 3 am, can you believe it?  I woke up one year to go to Kohl’s at 5am, I’m not even sure why.  I didn’t have a list of things to get, I didn’t research what was on sale, I just flew by the seat of my pants and went.  I thought it would be fun?  You are an amateur if you go shopping on BlackFriday without a list, at least that is what I’ve been told. :)

Don’t be like me…here are some resources to get you prepared for all the hoopla:

If you haven’t gone to blackfridayonline.com yet, go there now.  You will find the sale fliers for almost any store your little heart can dream off.  Check out the stores with the best deals before you go, that way you don’t have to run around on black Friday.  If you are not one for long lines and crowds, the website also has a section listing online deals!

Best Shopping Applications for Android and iPhone (c/o Lifehacker):

For Android:
Shop Savvy: Scan a bar-code, see which local stores carry the product and allows you to create wish lists!  Best part is, when you choose the store you wish to purchase the item from the app gives you the store’s information and directions on how to get there.

The Holidays Without The Internet

by on November 18th, 2010

Due to the fact that I’m fairly new to the era of having a career and making more than minimum wage, I have to say that the internet has played too significant of a role in all of my holiday activities – by holidays I am only speaking of those that require the exchange of gifts. Valentine’s Day does not count in my eyes because it is an advertised holiday where people, usually men (shoot me for making that assumption), have to show their significant other how ‘much’ they love them, in the form of over-expensive flowers and a dinner that probably requires too long of a wait. People should show love everyday not when they are encouraged to do so by the Hallmark Gods.

Changing The Way We Shop: Mobile Phone Based Payment System

by on November 16th, 2010

What is Isis?  It’s what Discover, Barclaycard, AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon are calling their mobile phone-based payment system.  If you’re sick of lugging around credit and debit cards, cash, coupons, tickets, reward cards and all the like, then keep on reading!

Isis will use near-field technology communication (NTC) and cell phones to revolutionize the payment process.  Remember those Speedway wands that you could wave in front of the Speedway horse at the pump?  Then when it lit up (because it was linked to your credit card), it meant you could pump your gas?  Well, that’s what it is, except in this case it’s your cellphone and not a wand, and it could hold (what sounds like) all of your information for every single account you have.

My initial concern would be, what if I loose my cellphone?  What if my “cousin” wanted to use my new “wallet”?  As with every new system, I’m sure that it will be encrypted with high security to protect our precious information.

I think this will catch on quickly, but I’m a little hesitant.  How likely are you to transition?  Personally, I think I would initially start with reward accounts only.  Then begin including credit cards slowly from there…or maybe I’m paranoid.

Tons of Discounts – Courtesy of InStyle’s Nov 2010 Issue

by on November 9th, 2010

I am probably one of the few girls that can proudly admit that I have NO fashion sense. I go for comfortable (obvious reasons), black (classy, sophisticated – never goes out of style and is flattering) and inexpensive items – that’s usually what I shop for. The end…oh wait, then there’s heels. I love them and they can be anything – stilettos, platforms, etc… but only because I love to tower over the men around me –its a power trip (you get more money for the same role – so yea, you should look up to me, its only fair).

Anyway – while I don’t often buy ‘style’ magazines because I rather look at ‘myself’ in Latina magazine, or read Oprah’s wonderful uplifting magazine of greatness and motivating stories – I did buy InStyle and oh my God – I am soooo thankful! Here are a bunch of coupons that InStyle.com included – since it’s the season to start (or continue) spending, I figured I’d help you all out a bit and share…enjoy!

Many of us have multiple email addresses – one we use to sign up for random stuff we really have no interest in, one we use for our resume, an AOL or Hotmail one from the 90′s and then there’s the one we actually like looking at – on a daily basis.

welcome.us

ShopItToMe.com is a website that allows you to pick the brands you like (they have top brands), the items you’re interested in, a specific sex, the price range & the frequency of the notifications.
