Samsung Expands Galaxy Line

by on September 26th, 2011

Today at 6 pm Samsung held a press conference introducing the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 and two players, the Samsung Galaxy Player 4.0 and 5.0.

The Galaxy Tab 8.9 is extremely thin – that is the first thing that you notice.  It has a nice metallic finish and while I’ve handled many tablets this one fit perfectly in my hands – like absolutely perfect, as if it were made for my hand.

It was funny hearing the product manager speak about it because they said ‘One size does not fit all’ and all I could think was – ‘You’re damn right!’.

The Galaxy Player 4.0 and 5.0 are entertainment focused devices – bringing you everything but a phone call (games, media, and services).  Taking a quick glance will make you think it’s an iPod Touch – I’m not going to lie – but its not, and its very nice.

The Galaxy Tab 8.9 will be available on October 2nd for $469 (16GB) and $568 (32GB).

The Galaxy Player 4.0 and 5.0 will be available on October 16th for $229 and $269 respectively.

Samsung Restore

by on June 15th, 2010

Samsung Restore™The Samsung Restore is bright green, and for a reason. It’s made of 27% recycled materials, comes packaged in fully recycled materials, has a low power drawing charger,  and when you’re done with the device, can BE recycled (well, 84% of it anyway.)

Its a slider text phone with a couple of extra features– the interface, a simple Samsung OS, has dedicated shortcuts for Twitter, Facebook, and (oh boy.) Myspace. The 2.0 megapixel camera can also record video, and there’s a setting for videos you plan to email, which I assume records them in lower fidelity. The slide-out hard QWERTY keyboard is great, with very little mistyping and really satisfying clicking sounds reinforcing the typing you’re doing.

The phone goes for $50 with a 2 year Sprint contract, which seems standard for a feature phone. A smart-phone its not, but with the angle of being earth-friendly (I mean, they even pre-programmed some “favorite sites” with a page about Green tips) the lime green Restore is a solid texting phone, with several cool added features that I think make it a great option for anyone in need of a phone that does more than call folks but doesn’t need a smartphone. Review: Samsung’s SC-MX20EL Shoot & Share Memory Camcorder

by on October 14th, 2009

samsungGeeks.com provided CuteGeek/HardwareGeeks.com with one of their best refurbished camcorders to try and when I received it, this is the first thing that came to mind…it was almost like a commercial, like a man’s voice said this, as angels played their harps in the background…just imagine it…

There are moments in our life that come and go, when we wish we could just turn back the hands of time and do things a tad bit differently, maybe change a decision, take back words…

If only…

If only I could go back to the day of my undergraduate graduation. Prior to graduation I struggled and struggled, as I attempted to learn how to use my friend’s Sony camcorder. I twisted and turned, clicked and pressed, cursed and shrugged, switched batteries, mini-discs, charged it again – and yet, nothing. I couldn’t figure out how to use the damn thing.

Review: Samsung S1 Mini (Because Everyone Should Have a Hard Drive in Their Pocket)

by on May 29th, 2009

I like to put backing up and flossing your teeth in the same category – the category that includes things you know you should do, but you don’t do, and when you realize you should have done it…it’s usually too late.

But with the Samsung S1 Mini, how can you not make backing up a regular activity? This thing is so small, so sleek, and so easy to use, it actually makes backing up enjoyable. The Samsung S1 Mini has a hard disk size of 1.8 inches and holds 120 GB. At 87mm x 62mm x 15.5 mm and 91g, it’s definitely convenient to carry around wherever you go, and it connects to any computer via a USB connection. You can use it on Windows XP/Vista or Mac OS X.
