Michael (HardwareGeeks.com) sent me an email earlier this week with a link to Intel’s Museum of Me, and I tried logging into my Facebook account to see what it would do, and it did nothing…so I forgot about it and went on my merry way. This morning, a friend of mine posted a link to her museum and I thought, crap, it didn’t work for me.

I gave it another shot and then smiled for about 3 minutes – the length of the ‘exhibit’. Intel has strategically figured out how to allow the world to visualize themselves, according to their social network, words they choose, and pictures they post. It was great.

I felt like a child on a class trip, to an awesome museum called Me. My favorite part was when the screen filled up with words and I tried to read as much of it as I can and what I got was ‘smile’, ‘nerd’, ‘best night ever’, ‘love’, ‘all’, etc…such a cool project…create your own and share with your friends. This was my exhibit:

Yippee skippy! I cannot wait till September to get the Beatles Rockband!!! Always been a huge fan even though I am an 80′s baby, my parents played music from the 50′s and on since I was a child! Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band is clearly one of my favorite Beatles albums (it helped my parents had the CD)! I recall I use to listen to that CD nightly in high school (unlike everyone else in HS listening to pop rock, no offense I am just an old schooler)! Till this day I swear I sometimes I start my morning with…

“Woke up, fell out of bed, Dragged a comb across my head. Found my way downstairs and drank a cup, And looking up I noticed I was late. Found my coat and grabbed my hat. Made the bus in seconds flat.” (Beatles Song: A Day In The Life)…and yes I literally sing this with a lil’ dance! I should have a reality show since I am such a dork! I swear I have been meaning to do a youtube of this reenactment! BUT I am hoping one day this song will be available for Rockband!

So yesterday I got a list of more songs for Beatles Rockband!

Per the press release, see below…and I believe the list will grow…to see full press release go here!

“Following the world premiere of The Beatles: Rock Band at the Microsoft press briefing at the 2009 E3 Media & Business Summit last month, the newly announced 15 songs represent a cross-section of hits and favorites that span The Beatles’ storied career from Can’t Buy Me Love and Paperback Writer to With A Little Help From My Friends and Yellow Submarine, bringing the total number of announced songs to 25.”

The 15 new songs for The Beatles: Rock Band and the venues they are featured in are:
I love to jam out to rap/ hip hop and I always have to turn the volume on my other ear buds all the way up but not with these little Reference 230 miracle buds…And I love that they are smaller than the apple shuffle earbuds…who wants their ears all stretched out…not me…

So you want the specs right? Any geek would…

Power: 2 x 20mW

Frequency Response: 20 Hz- 20kHz (-10dB)

Dimensions: Diameter- 15mm/ Wire length 1250 mm

Weight: .38oz (11grams)

The in ear headphones reference 250 are cool too. Basically you can receive calls while listening to your MP3s and not interrupt your music list… pops you inbetween your phone and MP3 player. These little buds are a perfect size and smaller then the ear buds. It took me some time to get use to them but once I did I was impressed with the sound quality. So again Nina give me the specs (shut up already right?!)…well here you go!

Power: 2 x 5mW

Frequency Response: 20 Hz- 20kHz (-10dB)

Dimensions: Diameter- 13.5mm/ Wire length 1182 mm

Weight: .42oz (12grams)

And Chloe also had to try them on, the girl just loves new toys…I played no music though of course (do not try this at home kids). She is just so curious about technology too! Again no music was played while she tried them on!!

I know allot of people want to hear me rant (for those who know me…my rants tend to be funny) so I had to sit here and think (think Nina think think think think)…what would be a standard complaint? I love these things way too much and I believe ear buds truly are my generation’s technology fashion accessory. After a couple glasses of “grape juice” I found minor and I mean minor items that bugged me…

Rant #1 the noise cancelation on the in ear headset is so strong I cannot hear over my voice when I speak. I used it on Skype and literally had to take one bud out…I hate my inside voice (you know the one only you hear and thank goodness for that). I think I am one of those weird people that does want to hear my surrounding…This really isn’t a complaint considering everyone else in the world would love it!

Rant #2, the pouches for these though super cute it doesn’t stop me from throwing my ear buds in my purse. This starts the downward spiral on the demise of my day, having to untangle little bitty wires. I have actually not used my shuffle if my wires are tangled. I have yet to find the miracle solution for having your buds not tangling; I have broken all the retractable ones. One would assume I would just put them away but NOOO…I don’t…if I was rich I would hire a professional de-tangler if there is such a thing! Again I think this is a Nina problem…I am one hot mess I tell you!

Lastly, I think I need the other color Roxy/ JBL b/c I am running out of pink items to match with my ear buds and I hate doing laundry or worse…dare I say I hate repeating an outfit…Opps, I’m always thinking of fashion first even if I am a technology geek!

I love these ear buds though and honestly I am the happiest little girl right now rockin my JBL/ Roxy pink ear buds…even if I am not matching on the streets of San Francisco! Don’t judge; if you heard the sound you would be rockin’ pink ear buds too!

We’re almost half way into the month and I have to apologize for not ranting earlier about it being Women’s Month! We purposely launched the site this month because of it.

As a chick that usually oozes her feminist ideals, I think we deserve a lil’ more than a month to show our appreciation to all the women who have made ours lives a tad bit easier. I can vote, work the same jobs as men and I don’t have to hide the fact that I’m a women – that’s amazing. I can wear pants and not be arrested, unlike Luisa Capetillo*. This wasn’t always the case though – we need to remember that. We’ve come a long way but there is still so much to do.

The logo of the site is supposed to symbolize women and all we are. Okay, maybe I’m pushing it…from the logo you can see we’re cute and may like diamonds with the tiny bling-like shine that it has…but behind all of that, it oozes pride. I’m speaking for the rest of the bloggerettes when I say this, but I am damn proud to be a women, a Latina women at that, and wouldn’t want it any other way.

I like breaking barriers, surprising people with my intelligence and living each day thinking about my career and how I’ll eventually balance family life with it. To some it may seem like too much – the whole family thing, but it’s a struggle that many women are blessed with having and appreciate. Men balance careers and families too, but women hold things down – there is no denying it (okay – here’s my opinion again making a special appearance).

As a woman who works in technology, I don’t always see coworkers that look like me, but that’s alright. I know me being there is slowly but surely helping that change. All it takes it one person.

With that said, and with me already having gone off in a tangent, please take this month, and the months to come, to honor and thank the women around you. The ones that are working full time, and still raising children; the ones that are inventing things, creating patents; the ones in school; the ones traveling the world; the ones testing the limits of what society thinks they should be allowed to do – give them all kudos because they weren’t always allowed to do what they’re doing and they’re taking advantage of all that has been granted, and still taking more for the rest of us.

Do it – its easy. It may only take a smile.

Woohoo!

*Luisa Capetillo goes down in history as being the first women in the Hispanic/Spanish speaking Caribbean, to wear pants. She was well educated and urged other females to obtain higher education. I wrote a mini thesis in college on the roots of feminism in the Caribbean – so there goes a mini history lesson for you all, brought to you for free, by the letters CHI :) Look her up, she’s a little more than amazing.

Since the beginning of time, or high school (same thing right…) I always told people I was a nerd. It wasn’t cool back then so I was taking a big risk, but I didn’t care, because I knew (yes, I’m admitting that I think I’m cute) that I could push those limits. I often received the ‘you don’t look like a nerd’ comment – and then I would ask, ‘well what does a nerd look like?’ – no answer…There weren’t nerdy trends back then, at least any people would actually want to follow.

When people thought of nerds they thought of Revenge of the Nerds – huge plastic framed glasses, huge bookbags, wimps, nose picking (hence the pic on the side…haha), etc. I had no other way of telling people that I was a really intelligent female, and that I loved school, loved to read, and was a sponge when it came to learning. What I did decide to do, which has now sort of become my trademark, is wear the huge plastic framed glasses…I always thought they looked nerdy and that’s what intrigued me to always, and continually buy them…I’ll show you pics another time of the many glasses I’ve had…

(I do career days at inner city schools and you have to see the look on the children’s faces when I tell them I’m a nerd…they’re like na…and then by the end of my lil’ speech, I tell the class and all of the nerds to be confident – to say that they’re nerds loud and proud. I asked one class to look around at the nerds in the class, and at first it was like ‘huh – why’ and then I said because you’ll most likely be working for them in the future. Its oh so true, sometimes we need a rude awakening, even at an early age – its okay to be smart damnit!)

Thanks to celebrities and the media, being a nerd is now a sense of style. Wearing suspenders, huge funky glasses, super tight clothes and just clothes that sort of seems awkward (work together) is now the thing to do. I am far from being a fashionista, I shop sales and wear tons of black, but if I can help bring those nerdy trends to all of ya’ll – I’ll try my best – trust me I will J

In high school, while everyone was living the advertised life (I went to school in the Bronx, NYC) – buying and wearing $150 pair of sneakers, and only focusing on their appearance, I actually invested in my education because the one thing I learned is that education is one thing that doesn’t go out of style. Times can change, people can come in and out of your life, you can lose a couple of things along the way but the one thing people can’t take from you is your education, the degrees under your belt and your knowledge – it never goes out of style either! It’s like a win, win situation, so why not try to get more of it.

I am so happy that it is now ‘cool’ to the world to be smart. It’s cool to be a nerd, a geek, a whatever – it’s great. You should never hide your true colors and if you feel a certain way, then go for it, and show them off…you never know when the tables will turn and when ‘you’ will become the new ‘in’ thing. I’m not saying you should wait for a big break, because who would’ve thought being a geek was cool…but look at it now. When you hear cute geek, you should no longer think of that being an oxymoron – there are many, many, many attractive, intelligent people in the world, and all the negative connotions associated with ‘geek’ will be disproven on Mythbusters if it were up to me.

Geeks are just as hot as anyone else – can I get an AMEN! If you’re a geek, you better walk tall and proud – it’s a revolution.

When someone doubts your geekiness/nerdiness give them one of these – my ‘are you serious/oh, I don’t look like a geek to you?’ face. Then quickly switch into the ‘whatever’ face – that’s what we should all do to folks when they tell us we don’t look ‘nerdy’, ‘smart’, or ‘geeky’ F that….

Often times, the one thing a woman really wants is for someone to understand her, even when she doesn’t.

She wants to be understood, even when the words don’t come out as right as she may want, and even when she says the wrong things.

She doesn’t want to get lost while on vacation, or when venturing off to a new part of town. She wants the reassurance that she’ll get there, no questions asked.

She doesn’t want to dread certain holidays in fear of her better half forgetting them; they should always be remembered without any reminders. And they should be cute with nice decorations (when possible).

When shopping, women want options – options, options, options…and sales of course. They want to say “I want ‘blah’” and their significant other should respond by saying, “Well honey, there’s this ‘blah’ for $15, this ‘blah’ for $25, etc…” Or, it can be given to her in a list.

She wants all of this and more.

She wants to be able to communicate with her partner about current events. She wants them to be up to date with everything. Bad news, good news, gossips…she wants it all (duh!). She wants different ways of communicating, and all of them should be good. Online, phone, text, etc…the list goes on.

That’s why, I, Radiris Diaz, believe that if Google were a man, he’d be my ideal match and I’d marry him (on the spot).
