In a big city, it’s hard to keep track of the newest bars, restaurants and fun shops. I know that the “Lifestyle” section of the paper covers this, but the only time I ever pick up an actual newspaper is to steal the coupons from my parents’ local Sunday paper. I can read the paper online, but what am I looking for? I found it incredibly frustrating to cross-reference sites like Yelp, Zagat online and newspaper websites for BOTH Philly and NYC.

And then I discovered Thrillist.

Thrillist sends daily emails filled with info about the latest food, nightlife, travel, entertainment, style and gadgets for 11 (and counting!) major cities. There’s sometimes coverage on special events, like Philly’s beer festival or NYC’s Beef & Bourbon festival, along with offers for free tix to lounge openings. From the guys themselves:

“Each weekday, we’ll drop you a must-have recommendation, from the best of what’s new, to deeply under-the-radar goodness. We’re talking absinthe-only cocktail spots, eateries that dish up BBQ Rattlesnake Salad and Reindeer in Bourbon Sauce, and ATMs whose currency is marijuana — handy, although after making a withdrawal, you’ll feel even more paranoid about the stocking repercussions of consuming Santa’s only friend.”

Word of warning: Thrillist IS male-oriented. The style & gear featured is menswear, but I find it handy for gift ideas for my boyfriend. The events can be considered “male” oriented, as well, but who says ladies cant enjoy beef, beer and boozee? Just because a girl likes to buy shoes and drink frilly cocktails, doesnt mean she cant chow down with the boys.

So head on over and sign up and enjoy the goodness in YOUR city! http://www.thrillist.com/signup
