MyTunes App Review

by on October 7th, 2011

IMG_0011Michael Reyes over at HardwareGeeks.com convinced me to install the new SRSLabs MyTunes App onto my iPod touch. He said it would deliver a music experience like nothing I ever heard before.

I figured it wouldn’t hurt to try so I downloaded the app from the App store and began to listen to my mix of music, at first I didn’t notice any real difference and realized I wasn’t using the app. I’m a brunette but I do have my blond moments.

So finally I opened up the App and began to play my music again and I heard a vast improvement. It was as if the music suddenly had soul. It didn’t sound flat anymore.

I haven’t unlocked all the features yet it cost $4.99 to do so, but I might just buy it because there are some pretty cool features such as the DJ Transition.

The App is available in the Apple App Store now. Download it!

Surround Sound Around Town with the SRS iWOW 3D

by on May 19th, 2011

The SRS iWOW 3D seriously enhances the listening experience on the iPhone, iPad and iPod. I put this four-inch audio attachment to the test by launching Netflix on my iPad 2 and loading the most recently played item in my queue, The Pink Panther. I could feel little Inspector Jacques Clouseau rolling his smooth nasal french R’s! I was surprised at the difference in the sound clarity with and without the iWOW. It was easy to experiment with since the gadget has a handy little “wow me!” on/off button. Off to a bigger sound experience…I plug my Skull Candy Smokin’ ear buds into the iWoW on iPhone, launch episode 12 of Heroes and absorb the theme song resonating through my body. I am so immersed that I don’t hear my doorbell ringing and my girlfriend has to text me to get my attention…Oops.

3D – The Next Thing for iPhone/iPod

by on November 10th, 2010

Hasbro Inc. is designing 3D binoculars that will be compatible with the iPhone and iPod.  These little puppies will be dubbed as “My3D” and  will open a 3D (Appley) universe!  iPhone and iPod users will be able to use the Apple store for My 3D apps and movies.  I wonder how fast app-makers will begin releasing 3D games and how extravagant they will get.  Personally, I’d be curious to see how good the quality would be.

As someone that travels for work, I can imagine myself strapping these beauties on right before the plane took off, then putting on some sort of suspense or thriller movie and  twitching at every 3D detail that ‘flew’ into my face.   Continue Reading…

New Ear Buds On the Way

by on October 22nd, 2009

One night I was up late practicing my hip hop dance skills with my Roxy/ JBL earbuds (more like a goofy attempt to recreate what my dance instructor showed me the day before) and all the sudden one side of the earbuds went out.  At first I thought; “oh no after several years of listening to music on full blast (plus being in a mosh pit at some major concerts) I have blown one ear drum out.”  EEK!

In a Zoolander attempt (the sound is IN the earbuds?!)  I took them out and somewhat ”tapped”  them a couple times to see if maybe my attempt would in fact make the earbuds work.  I also did the classic reboot of my shuffle and worked with the cable to see if it was a “Nina” error. My IPod Shuffle is Nina certified!

by on July 21st, 2009

shuffleI was born a klutz, in fact it’s rare that I will not have a bruise on me…I run into door frames frequently.  Also as I am getting older I have developed shaky hands which has been the demise of many of my tech gadgets.  If they only could build a cell phone that once you dropped it; it would bounce back up like a basket ball! Man I should patent that idea!

To be honest I can break anything and I have no idea how it happens! Somewhat like when my dog plays with bugs and then kills them and wonders why they won’t play with her, kinda the way I feel about my gadgets. Once I was vacuuming and I ran over my husband mouse (not a real mouse, computer mouse) cord and the vacuum tore it in half!  I was so distraught!

Cut to me and my pink IPod shuffle (yes I know we all say that we don’t need to have pink products but my favorite color is pink in honor of my grandmother).  My shuffle is used about 4-5 hours a day since I live in the city and walk every where.  Seriously you don’t want me driving since I am a hot mess behind the wheel (I never took the driving portion of drivers ed.).  And yeah I know its not the newest one but frankly I still love it!  Continue Reading…

Review: Core Cases for iPod Video 80GB

by on July 15th, 2009

IMG_0900At one point in time the goal for every gadget owner is to preserve its greatness.

That greatness can vary. For headphones, maybe it’s the crystal clear sounds. For phones, the greaseless screen…for iPods, it’s everything.

How can I keep my iPod looking brand spanking new, without causing uncomfy bulges to appear in my clothes or bags, and how can I optimize its use.

Core Cases has nailed it.

When I first got my iPod back in 07 (I wasn’t an early adapter…I had a Dell DJ) I wanted a case that wasn’t hard, because I thought the big plastic ones were ‘big’ and ‘bulky’ – yuck. I wanted something that could ensure my iPod’s survival in my ever so changing and exciting world, so I opted for a rubber sleevelike cover.

Review: Logitech Pure-Fi Express Plus

by on March 31st, 2009

When I was going away to college in 2003, I purchased a pair of $20 speakers from Radio Shack. I knew I needed to buy something because I like to do everything with music on – clean, homework, shower, etc. I didn’t test it out in the store but the representative guaranteed they would be good.

They were. They were great actually – the bad part was that they were freaking ugly and had long wires that made them impossible to hide, or blend in with anything in my Winnie the Pooh decorated college dorm.

Times have changed and so has my opinion on sound quality. Continue Reading…

New iPod Shuffle that Talks

by on March 11th, 2009

shuffle-silver1Apple has just introduced a new iPod shuffle that’s half the size of its previous model and get this, it TALKS to you!

It’ll tell you what song is playing, the artist and the playlist name. The functionality isn’t out of this world but its pretty cool, dont’cha think? The thought of having a little voice in your head may seem weird, but when we listen to songs on the radio we’re usually told what the song is, so I don’t think it’ll be much different.

“Imagine your music player talking to you, telling you your song titles, artists and playlist names,” said Greg Joswiak, Apple’s vice president of iPod and iPhone™ Product Marketing. “The amazingly small new iPod shuffle takes a revolutionary approach to how you listen to your music by talking to you, also making it the first iPod shuffle with playlists.”

The 4GB iPod shuffle is available in silver and black and is shipping now, you can get yours at www.applestore.com, the price is just $79. I personally like the black one, it goes well with everything :)
