MyTunes App Review

by on October 7th, 2011

IMG_0011Michael Reyes over at HardwareGeeks.com convinced me to install the new SRSLabs MyTunes App onto my iPod touch. He said it would deliver a music experience like nothing I ever heard before.

I figured it wouldn’t hurt to try so I downloaded the app from the App store and began to listen to my mix of music, at first I didn’t notice any real difference and realized I wasn’t using the app. I’m a brunette but I do have my blond moments.

So finally I opened up the App and began to play my music again and I heard a vast improvement. It was as if the music suddenly had soul. It didn’t sound flat anymore.

I haven’t unlocked all the features yet it cost $4.99 to do so, but I might just buy it because there are some pretty cool features such as the DJ Transition.

The App is available in the Apple App Store now. Download it!

zBoost Brings the Bars (Cell Signal Bars!) into Your Home or Office…

by on July 24th, 2011

Dependable phone service is a necessity for a home-office professional. It is just not acceptable to drop off in the middle of a teleconference or get disconnected during a net meeting just because your cell service is spotty. Even having the top floor apartment and putting my desk next to the outermost window, I still experienced dropped calls on occasion, more frequently on one of my carriers than the other. Dropped calls are even more prevalent when to work from my living room where my cell signal isn’t as consistently strong. Rather than invest in a home land line and another monthly expense, I decided to try the Wi-Ex Zboost Cell Phone Signal Extender and was impressed to find that my AT&T service was consistently more dependable and consistently had more bars. Surround Sound Around Town with the SRS iWOW 3D

by on May 19th, 2011

The SRS iWOW 3D seriously enhances the listening experience on the iPhone, iPad and iPod. I put this four-inch audio attachment to the test by launching Netflix on my iPad 2 and loading the most recently played item in my queue, The Pink Panther. I could feel little Inspector Jacques Clouseau rolling his smooth nasal french R’s! I was surprised at the difference in the sound clarity with and without the iWOW. It was easy to experiment with since the gadget has a handy little “wow me!” on/off button. Off to a bigger sound experience…I plug my Skull Candy Smokin’ ear buds into the iWoW on iPhone, launch episode 12 of Heroes and absorb the theme song resonating through my body. I am so immersed that I don’t hear my doorbell ringing and my girlfriend has to text me to get my attention…Oops.

Every Girl Needs One Good Reason to Get “Smart”

by on May 3rd, 2011

[Why I really got my iPhone]

I would like to tell you that I am a sexy slinky trendsetter and that as a strategy consultant I toted the latest tech toys, but frankly, I liked to keep my technology simple….and cheap. In late 2009, I was a flip phone kind of girl. I saw no valid reason for spending a few hundred dollars on an iPhone (which I perceived to be a delicate toy) just to integrate my iPod with my phone. That is… until our doctor opened my eyes….

Brilliant Women in Technology: Meet Hailey Bright

by on January 1st, 2011

Happy New Year Cute Geeks! Meet our first brilliant woman of 2011 – Hailey Bright!!

Meet our
-Can you tell us a little about yourself and your background?

I grew up in Tennessee and I’m a total Southern girl. I love fried food, boating on the lake, and playing cards on a Sunday afternoon. I love dance, art, and running. I grew up playing old school video games like Mario and Duck Hunt. My brother and I spent hours playing Mario when it first came out. We were totally obsessed!

-How did you get started in technology, or at your current position?

Growing up I was always interested in tech and computer stuff. I’m like the go-to girl that all of my friends call when they have tech questions or their computer breaks down. Then, 3 years ago I started hosting Coin-Op TV Live (www.coin-op.tv), an internet tv show about video games and tech. Since then I have been hosting a lot of different shows on video games and tech. Currently I am hosting a monthly tech series for Toshiba on their latest tech gadgets hitting the market. It’s a ton of fun getting paid to geek out all day!!

Black Friday: Are you ready?

by on November 24th, 2010

Ladies!  Black Friday is only hours away.  Some stores are opening at 3 am, can you believe it?  I woke up one year to go to Kohl’s at 5am, I’m not even sure why.  I didn’t have a list of things to get, I didn’t research what was on sale, I just flew by the seat of my pants and went.  I thought it would be fun?  You are an amateur if you go shopping on BlackFriday without a list, at least that is what I’ve been told. :)

Don’t be like me…here are some resources to get you prepared for all the hoopla:

If you haven’t gone to blackfridayonline.com yet, go there now.  You will find the sale fliers for almost any store your little heart can dream off.  Check out the stores with the best deals before you go, that way you don’t have to run around on black Friday.  If you are not one for long lines and crowds, the website also has a section listing online deals!

Best Shopping Applications for Android and iPhone (c/o Lifehacker):

For Android:
Shop Savvy: Scan a bar-code, see which local stores carry the product and allows you to create wish lists!  Best part is, when you choose the store you wish to purchase the item from the app gives you the store’s information and directions on how to get there.

3D – The Next Thing for iPhone/iPod

by on November 10th, 2010

Hasbro Inc. is designing 3D binoculars that will be compatible with the iPhone and iPod.  These little puppies will be dubbed as “My3D” and  will open a 3D (Appley) universe!  iPhone and iPod users will be able to use the Apple store for My 3D apps and movies.  I wonder how fast app-makers will begin releasing 3D games and how extravagant they will get.  Personally, I’d be curious to see how good the quality would be.

As someone that travels for work, I can imagine myself strapping these beauties on right before the plane took off, then putting on some sort of suspense or thriller movie and  twitching at every 3D detail that ‘flew’ into my face.   Continue Reading…

Review: HTC EVO for Sprint

by on October 13th, 2010

When I first heard about the EVO launching – I thought “Oh I’m definitely getting it.”. Then, I ended up having to get a Blackberry Tour, about a month before, due to some technical difficulties with life. Either way, had I waited – I would’ve never gotten one.

Want to know why?? Because even as a loyal Sprint customer (for over 10 years), and even as the Editor In Chief of CuteGeek.com with contacts at Sprint Corporate – it didn’t matter because demand was that HIGH. The EVO was sold out before it arrived at its stores. Even with hookups (you know how that goes) it was impossible to find – but, I did find a friend of mine who did…let me introduce our guest blogger for this review – Mr…yes, he’s a man…Domingo (yes – that means Sunday in Spanish) Espinal Jr.

Review: Pogo Stylus for your iPhone

by on April 13th, 2010

product_pogo_4up When I found out I would be getting a new review for cutegeek I wrote on my Facebook that I was getting a Pogo Stylus for iPhones. My cousin then commented on my status…

Cousin: I miss my Pogoball…

My reply: Man I wish someone would send me that to review…with a counter of how long I could go…genius!

Cousin: counters…geez, you’re SO digital!

I know my cousin was probably being sarcastic but he made a good point. Every day I am always thinking of technology and how I can make something not digital into a digital product. Is there a flower pot that has a digital reminder so you don’t kill you plants? If not I should patent this! OR is there a waterproof blue tooth headset that you can use in the shower/ swimming/ rain for those times when you are on eternal hold or boring conference calls and need to multi-task yet not say a word?

by on April 13th, 2010

iskin-solo-for-iphone-3g I think I am the last person on the planet that doesn’t have an iPhone and I have no idea what I am waiting for…Oh I know a day job:-). I asked all my iPhone friends if I could test the iSkin solo SE/ solo FX out on theirs and my friend Aziz from Cabana Networks kindly volunteered. Aziz also has an iPad so stay tuned for a review on the iPad and the accessories that I have been receiving.
