Have you heard of Bobble?

by on July 22nd, 2011

Bobble is a reusable water bottle that filters your water as you drink. They are made of recycled plastic and is free of BPA, Phthalates and PVC and the replaceable filter meets or exceeds NSF International Standard 42, the standard that governs public and private drinking water. Since the average American is consuming 167 bottles of water a year, this is something that should be in everyone’s home. They come in three sizes: 13, 18.5, and 34 oz. and, even though they have a unique design, they can fit in most cup holders. Children are drawn to the shape of the bottle right away and love Bobble’s as much as adults, so in addition to the 6 different colors they come in there is also a children’s line of multicolored Bobble’s.

Earth Day 2011

by on April 21st, 2011

Today is earth day and over the past day or so I have been able to play with two products from Belkin to help you save energy and be green, and also learned about a Wind Turbine that you can put together yourself in your own backyard.

The first of the two Belkin Products I was able to test out was the Belkin Conserve Socket. What is it? I wasn’t sure at first either when I heard the name, but its a socket with a timer. Basically it shuts power off to what ever device is plugged into it after 30, 180 or 360 minutes. Essentially it turns your wall socket into the perfect charging socket. Your cell phone, iPad or what ever mobile device you have can typically fully charge in less than 3 hours.

The Elle Portable Light Project

by on May 29th, 2010

I was reading my monthly  fashion magazines and came upon this lovely info on Elle: a messenger bag outfitted with a small, flexible solar panel, a HBLED light, a rechargeable battery pack, and a USB port. Called the Flap Bag, (short for “Flexible Light and Power”) it was the brainchild of the brilliant architect Sheila Kennedy, who directs the Portable Light Project, a non-profit initiative that provides solar textile kits to empower the world’s poorest people who do not have access to electricity.

Kennedy’s team works with nongovernmental organizations, providing training to women so they can integrate the technology into local textile materials using commonly available materials and their sewing and weaving skills. The results are surprising: a culturally diverse range of blankets, bags, and clothing that generate clean, sustainable energy and light, while supporting local economies.”

I think it’s an awesome idea and a great way to be fashionable and at the same time conscious about our planet.

Please visit www.portablelight.org or  http://www.elle.com/Fashion/Fashion-Spotlight/Portable-Light-Project for more information on the bags.

Review: Macbook Case from Applesac / Colcasac

by on March 19th, 2010

Applesac
When I first got in the Applesac/ Colcasac in the mail I was confused on why would someone need a sleeve like this till I did my research and then I understood. It is made to be a functional sleeve that is created from premium heavy natural fibers (burlap) and 100% polyester sherpa fleece. Its’ surface is meant to handle the rugged world while its’ inside provides a scratch-free protection for your Apple’s surface. It fits snugly around your MacBook and suppose to act as a theft deterrent since no one associates burlap with a portable. Interesting…but correct as I would never think of the burlap sleeve / case as having a notebook in it.
