Brilliant Women in Technology: Meet Jezra Kaye

by on July 1st, 2011

Hi CuteGeeks!

A little over a month ago, I attended a workshop titled “Confident Communications for Women”. I had a personal interest in this because I feel that I do not know how to effectively communicate sometimes. The workshop was a lot of fun and I received so much information that I definitely left feeling more confident (knowledge if power!). I met Jezra Kaye at the workshop because it was hers! – and I just had to ask her to be on our site because she intrigued me so much. If only because of her deep passion for helping women to get to better places – through confidence – or because of her wit, and how she uses technology…actually, I have a lot of reasons why I admire her, but let me let her tell you why she rocks.

CuteGeeks meet Jezra….

Brilliant Women in Technology: Meet Leslie Sobon

by on February 2nd, 2011

Happy Winter-bury – seems like the whole United States is getting a little extra loving from the Winter Gods! Hope everyone is warm and safe.

Meet our Brilliant Woman of February – Leslie Sobon! Ms. Sobon is the Vice President, Worldwide Product & Outbound Marketing at AMD. While I have never had the pleasure of meeting her personally, Michael Reyes has, and thinks she is *brilliant*! He even went as far as to say, she’s geekier than him. I find that highly doubtful.

-Can you tell us a little about yourself and your background?

I’m a Northeasterner living in Texas. So, I long for seasons, diners, and another Boston Red Sox World Series win. But I adore TexMex food, so thank you Texas!

-How did you get started in technology, or at your current position?

I found technology by accident – not by design – but once I was in it I’ve never wanted to leave. I started my career in marketing, working for high tech magazines like Surface Mount Technology, Printed Circuit Board, and Automated Test and Equipment (ATE) magazines. Let me tell you, once you see an ATE do some wafer testing, you’re hooked. From there I moved to Texas Instruments, Dell, and five years ago to AMD.

Brilliant Women in Technology: Meet Hailey Bright

by on January 1st, 2011

Happy New Year Cute Geeks! Meet our first brilliant woman of 2011 – Hailey Bright!!

Meet our
-Can you tell us a little about yourself and your background?

I grew up in Tennessee and I’m a total Southern girl. I love fried food, boating on the lake, and playing cards on a Sunday afternoon. I love dance, art, and running. I grew up playing old school video games like Mario and Duck Hunt. My brother and I spent hours playing Mario when it first came out. We were totally obsessed!

-How did you get started in technology, or at your current position?

Growing up I was always interested in tech and computer stuff. I’m like the go-to girl that all of my friends call when they have tech questions or their computer breaks down. Then, 3 years ago I started hosting Coin-Op TV Live (www.coin-op.tv), an internet tv show about video games and tech. Since then I have been hosting a lot of different shows on video games and tech. Currently I am hosting a monthly tech series for Toshiba on their latest tech gadgets hitting the market. It’s a ton of fun getting paid to geek out all day!!

Brilliant Women in Technology: Meet Hannah Simone

by on August 18th, 2010

I personally didn’t get to speak with or interview Hannah Simone as I was unable to attend the event (E3) where our CuteGeek representative met her. Which sort of sucks because after reading her answers and reading up on her she’s an amazing person. Would have been nice to have met her. But I got the second best thing, I got the task of writing up why she’s a Brilliant Women in Tech.

Hannah Simone was born in London England and as lived all over the world. From Saudi Arabia to New Delhi India where she attended school and would help organize to benefits to help women and children with Aids. In 2006 she landed in Canada where she became a VJ for MuchMusic and in 2009 she became the host of WCG Utimate Gamer, whose second season starts August 19th 2010 on the SyFy Channel. Check local listings. I always wanted to say that…I guess I still haven’t said it and I just typed it.

Brilliant Women in Technology: Meet Ann Finnie

by on January 2nd, 2010

Ann Finnie at CESHi CuteGeeks!

We are starting the new year off strong and hope you all are too! We want to introduce our first brilliant woman in technology – Ann Finnie. I met Ann Finnie through blogging, and since then she has truly become an inspiration. She is an amazing woman, who loves her job and her passion can be seen in everything that she does. She is the Worldwide Public Relations Manager for Consumer PCs and Office of the CTO, in the Personal Systems Group, for HP – and we are honored to have her featured as one of our Brilliant Women in Technology! Check out her interview!

-Can you tell us a little about yourself and your background?

I was born and raised in the heart of Silicon Valley, Sunnyvale, CA. Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak actually went to my high school, although they’re a bit older than me so I didn’t know them at that time. In fact, we’ve had several successful graduates from my high school (Homestead High School in Cupertino). Danny Gordon (think Gordon-Biersch beer) was in the marching band at the same time as me. He played the trombone and I played the trumpet.

I attended De Anza College and I graduated from the school of business at San Jose State.
