Girls Out Loud Episode 05: Synthetic Blood and Robots, aka Minority Report

by on July 11th, 2010

Cristina and Maya are fascinated by DARPA’s initiative to farm synthetic blood, which has been achieved by a biotech company in Ohio, as well as research being done by robotics students around the world trying to make teachers out of robots (brilliant!). The girls puzzle over Facebook activation numbers for the past month falling of a cliff from 7.8M to just 320,000 new accounts in the US for the month! Google Games plus Zynga, and Reddit Gold also make the list of topics the ladies break down in this episode. [Oh, and pardon the occasional echo. Technical difficulties... :( ... ]

Girls Out Loud Episode 04: A day late but no bucks short

by on July 5th, 2010

As we both have very full time jobs, (while no excuse, but kinda..) excuse us for putting the show up so much later than it should be up– to make up for it, however, not a single one of these stories is no longer relevant! In fact, if anything, the iPhone 4 is even bigger news, as the antennae issues put it on everyone’s radar, Twitter is still invariably being used to annonce dumb shizz, and Microsoft is, alas, still headed fast  into the can. In the meantime, help us stay on top of things by emailing us your comments, feedback, and questions! Love! Maya(@girlsoutloudshow.com) and Cristina (@girlsoutloudshow.com).

by on June 9th, 2010

Hey guys! Referring, of course, to the now (unfortunately) infamous coverage of poor Mark Zuckerberg dissolving in a lake of his own sweat while being grilled on privacy issues during the D8 conference last week, Cristina and I talked about our sympathies (or not!) for the Facebook CEO…http://blogs.sfweekly.com/thesnitch/2010/06/just_watch_spiderman.php

Did you guys hear about the change in data plan rates ATT announced, right in time for iPhone 4? What do YOU think of it? http://www.wired.com/gadgetlab/2010/06/att-poll-data/

I’m pretty sure the internet is not making us dumber as a collective whole…just a couple of us, maybe…http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748704025304575284973472694334.html

DUDES! This is too cool– everyone on tv reads the same newspaper..and you GOTTA click thru to the other pics, its too funny to see! http://www.boingboing.net/2010/06/05/everyone-on-tv-reads.html

We talk about a business called Chegg, like Netflix for textbooks…http://techcrunch.com/2010/06/05/teardown-chegg/

Finally, ending on a high note here: USE YOUR BABY FOR CHORES! http://feeds.boingboing.net/~r/boingboing/iBag/~3/IDIfdwuBiZI/how-to-use-your-baby.html\
