Logitech Transforms Presentations With Spotlight: Highlight, Magnify and More

TEDs New Preferred Remote, Spotlight Can Help You Become a More Confident Presenter

LAUSANNE, Switzerland and NEWARK, Calif. Feb. 1, 2017 Today Logitech (SIX: LOGN) (NASDAQ: LOGI) announced a complete reinvention of presentation control with the Logitech Spotlight Presentation Remote. Unlike the traditional slide clicker or laser pointer of the past, Spotlight is designed to help you become a more confident presenter. Spotlight is an advanced tool that goes well beyond laser pointing, and enables you to highlight and magnify on-screen content in an engaging and powerful way so you can better underscore your point.

Tweet now: Play it. Show it. Time it. Crush it. @Logitech introduces Spotlight Presentation Remote for confident presenting. Learn More: http://blog.logitech.com/?p=25520

Presentations are nerve-wracking, said Marcel Stolk, senior vice president of the Creativity and Productivity business group at Logitech. For most, the main stumbling block is a lack of confidence we just get nervous. Spotlight is easier to use and, most importantly, gives you new ways to engage your audience versus a hard-to-see laser pointer.

Spotlight is a new standard in presentation control. It allows you to effortlessly navigate slides and interact with on-screen content from up to 100 feet away. With the advanced pointer system you can highlight and magnify points on your slide in pixel-perfect detail, so the audience stays engaged throughout your talk. Spotlight also has mouse-like cursor control to play videos and open links, and unlike a laser, the cursor and highlights are visible to both a live audience and those on a video conference.

Spotlight pairs with a powerful app so you can set the stage even before your presentation begins. In the app you can toggle pointer mode, set timed vibration alerts or activate more advanced functions like volume control with hand gestures. Whats more, the app will be updated with additional features over time, so youll always have access to the latest in presentation functionality with Spotlight.

We know how important reliable technology is for helping speakers feel confident on stage, said Lisa Choi Owens, head of global partnerships at TED. Using technologies like Logitech Spotlight allows our speakers to focus on their talks, and deliver ideas worth spreading.

Logitech Spotlight also connects instantly via USB receiver or Bluetooth Smart technology. It is plug-and-play on most devices and compatible with all popular presentation apps. Plus, it features smart recharging one minute of charge gives three hours of use so you will never be caught off guard.

Logitech and TED plan to launch a worldwide search for aspiring communicators who will be invited to participate in an exclusive Spotlight Presentation Academy at the TED Theater in New York. Armed with a Spotlight presentation remote, attendees will have the opportunity to work with industry experts to enhance their presentation skills. Through this program, the two companies aim to inspire and support communities of presenters and idea-sharers worldwide. More details regarding the search will be announced in the coming weeks.

Availability

Logitech Spotlight Presentation Remote is available today from Logitech and Apple for a suggested retail price of $129.99, and will be available from additional retailers worldwide in March. by on January 30th, 2017

The Rocky Horror Picture Show’s Tim Curry, Barry Bostwick and Meat Loaf will reunite at FAN EXPO DALLAS 2017 located in downtown Dallas for Three Days.

The FAN EXPO DALLASis March 31st through April 2nd at the Dallas Kay Bailey Hutchinson Convention Center.

The FAN EXPO DALLAS show will be Stan Lee’s last Texas appearance as well so this show should be EPIC! If you are interested in getting a photo op or autograph the fees are $120.00 for each not for both. I suggest checking the schedule beforehand so you know when the photo ops and autograph sessions are happening.

I went last year and had a blast…as much as you can with little boys and teenage boys poking you in the behind with their light sabers. I have gone in total to 4 Comic Cons / FAN EXPOs overthe last year and each one boast more technology than the previous show (except for Silicon Valley).

I just submitted my press credentials to attend this years FAN EXPO DALLAS and very excited about the cast of Rocky Horror Picture Show being there. Hopefully I will be approved and will be on ground zero throughout the show updating you all via my twitterand my Youtube channel. Continue Reading…

CT BAND – Turn Your Classic Watch Into a Smart Watch

by on January 24th, 2017

Combining elegance with technology is no easy task. I was intrigued to learn about the smart strap called “CT BAND“that gives intelligence (smart watches features) to all classic watches by simply attaching it to the watch dial.

Wait…WHAT!?

How amazing is it to make any of your watches into smart watches?! Instead of buying a separate fitness tracker that clearly does not look as nice as a watch the CT BAND fits that void so you have both in one. It allows you to enjoy the sensors and features of a smart watch while keeping the elegance and expertise of traditional watchmaking.

How does it work?

With its panel of physiological and environmental sensors, CT BAND uses cutting edge electronics technologies (several patents pending). The CT BAND mobile app allows you to analyze at any time the data gathered on the strap. Notifications received on your smartphone and/or tablet are directly available on your strap through a screen pop-up.

The CT BAND comes with 3D Accelerometer, Bluetooth connectivity, Physiological sensors, Environmental sensors and a Microphone. It’s battery life is 24-48 hours and takes an hour to charge. The CT Band smart strap synchronizes with most tablets and smartphones using either Android or IOS and it’s sync range is 10 to 20 meters.

The CT BAND is available in 3 finishes – silicone, leather, stitched-leather with 7 different colors. CT BAND is available for pre-order on Byrifft.com for $149.00 and for more information about the CT BAND click here.

I think this is an awesome product and concept but I haven’t tested it yet. Hopefully they will send me one to review for Cutegeek or Hi-Tech Chic in 2017!

More Robots Making a Cameo at CES 2017

by on December 19th, 2016

ces-logo-2016I’m seriously starting to think that robots really are taking over the planet! For the past couple months I’ve been posting articles on robots that will be launching or that have demos during CES and the list continues to expand. I’ve already introducted you all to Tipron, the Hease and the Robot helper at SJC but I’m learning lately that there are many more robots that will be at CES 2017. Below are a few robots I just learned about that will be at CES. I have a feeling this list will continue to grow as CES 2017 gets closer so check back on Cutegeek or Hi-Tech Chic every now and then before CES for updates.

Olly – The First Robot with Personalityolly

Olly is a brain-inspired AI engine and uses deep learning to provide accurate speech and emotion interaction. Moreover Olly is the first smart lifestyle assistant that actually develops a personality based on its owner’s moods and preferences, making daily communications with Olly unique and enjoyable. I am very interested to see how much personality a robot can have when I am at CES, should be a cool demo! Continue Reading…

CLEVELAND CLINIC SPINOFF PREVENT BIOMETRICS® SHOWCASES HEAD IMPACT MONITOR AT CES 2017

by on December 12th, 2016

prevent-mouth-guardPrevent Biometrics® is releasing and showcasing their new Head Impact Monitor at CES 2017. The Head Impact Monitor is embedded in the mouthguard that is paired with a mobile app to accurately detect potential concussion-causing impacts and provides real-time alerts. lacrosse

I am very excited to check this out at CES though odd I’m excited about a mouthguard. I played women’s lacrosse at Texas State University and I have definitely taken it for the team a couple times on the field. If you have ever been hit in the face with a lacrosse ball or got hit on your head in full swing with a lacrosse stick you would understand why I’m excited. That happened to me while on the field and not just once or twice but almost every other game. One time I got hit so hard by someone’s stick it knocked me out. The Head Impact Monitor by Prevent Biometrics® would have been handy way back then.

Below is the official press release with more information and product specifications. If you are attending CES I would definitely check out their booth and maybe you will run into me as well at CES! Continue Reading…

IK Multimedia Announces and Ships iRig Nano Amp

by on December 8th, 2016

irigI can’t play an instrument to save my life unless RockBand counts. I am however a singer, have a music room in my condo and surrounded by starving artists. At any occasion my friends or family will do impromptu jam sessions and iRig’s nano battery-powered micro guitar amplifier would be a cool addition especially since it’s very portable and tiny.

amp-1

The iRig Nano Amp is an ultra-portable, battery-powered micro guitar amplifier and interface for iPhone and iPad that gives guitar and bass players access to unlimited tones in a compact, self-contained 3-watt amplifier that can drive up to a 4×12″ guitar cab.

I hope I get a chance to do a product review so I can give you all a 411 about the iRig Nano Amp. Below is the official press release and more information regarding the iRig Nano Amp.

December 8, 2016 – IK Multimedia once again redefines a product category for guitarists with the newly released iRig Nano Amp – the versatile micro amp with a built-in iOS interface. iRig Nano Amp gives players both a standalone portable guitar amplifier PLUS an interface that lets them plug their guitar into an iPhone or iPad and use AmpliTube for iOS to access an unlimited and inspirational world of guitar tones on the go. iRig Nano Amp is available now from IK Multimedia and music and electronics retailers around the world.

The first micro amp and interface for mobile guitarists
iRig Nano Amp is a super-compact, battery-powered, self-contained micro amp and interface for iOS that players can use by itself, with headphones or even an external speaker cabinet – this power-packe
d amazing little amp can drive up to a 4×12″ guitar cab! But what makes it more versatile than any other micro amp available is that it features the iRig circuitry so that guitarists can plug their iPhone or iPad into it with the included TRRS cable and tap into the limitless world of AmpliTube guitar tone and more.

Dual Mode Operation – AMP/DEVICE
What makes iRig Nano Amp so unique is that it operates in two different modes: AMP & DEVICE. In AMP mode it’s a standalone amp for impromptu practice anywhere. In DEVICE mode it’s used as an interface and amp for an iOS device. Plus, in both modes players can use the built-in speaker or hook up an external speaker cabinet – up to a 4×12″ cab – for more volume and tonal clarity.

AMP mode
iRig Nano Amp operates as a straight-up guitar amp and features a British tone stack circuit with tone and volume controls for practice on the go. Players simply plug their guitar into the 1/4″ guitar input, adjust the volume and gain settings, select the output type NORMAL/BRIGHT and rock out. The British tone circuit delivers sparkling clean tones at lower gain settings and a cascading wave of overdrive when cranked to the upper limits.

DEVICE mode
iRig Nano Amp is also an interface and monitor for an iOS device thanks to its integrated iRig circuit. Players use the included TRRS cable to hook up iRig Nano Amp in DEVICE mode to an iPhone or iPad and plug in to the amazing toneful world of AmpliTube to play, practice and record anywhere, any time. This is great for grabbing ideas in AmpliTube’s 4-track looper or recording studio, or just practicing with the models of AmpliTube gear and more. When used in DEVICE mode, the internal tone stack circuit is bypassed and the volume knob controls the overall output of the amp. Headphones can be used in DEVICE mode for monitoring the processed signal coming from the device.

Drive a cab
iRig Nano Amp features a 1/4″ speaker out jack that can drive up to a 4×12″ cabinet. Once plugged in, guitarists will be floored by the volume and tonal definition that iRig Nano Amp provides. An external cabinet can be used in both AMP and DEVICE modes providing the most flexibility of any micro amp available.

Under the hood
iRig Nano Amp is compact – it’s just slightly larger than an iPhone and features a handy “kickstand” for tilting back the unit for better monitoring. Inside, iRig Nano Amp powers a 3″ speaker with a 3-watt class A/B power amp. It features a 1/4″ guitar input, a 1/4″ speaker output, an 1/8″ headphone jack, is powered by 3 AA batteries (included) and comes complete with a TRRS cable for connection to an iOS device. iRig Nano Amp can be used in 3 output monitoring options – in DEVICE mode with headphones for private practice, or with the internal speaker active or external speaker cabinet connected to the 1/4″ speaker out in both DEVICE or AMP modes.

An expandable universe of tone
Since iRig Nano Amp lets players plug into their iPhone or iPad, they’ll have access to AmpliTube for iOS – the largest and expandable collection of virtual gear available from the world’s top manufacturers. Available models include amps and stomps from Fender®, Ampeg®, MESA/Boogie®, Orange® and signature artists like Slash, Jimi Hendrix™ and more. With iRig Nano Amp and AmpliTube, a complete guitar rig is always close at hand.

Pricing and availability
iRig Nano Amp is available now from IK retailers worldwide or from the IK online store for only $/€49.99 (excluding taxes).
