iPhone 4 Fav Apps

by on May 1st, 2012

I have been busy fund raising for the CCFA walk in San Francisco 6/9 and became a team captain. This is why I heart the iPhone 4; I have a funding raising tool app for my walk Team Nina’s Nincompoops through the Take Steps mobile app. It keeps me updated and organized for the walk!

I ended up downloading the MS Messenger due to the fact I have had a hotmail account since 1997…yeah that ages me but no matter how much I try to get rid of it people know me from it therefore I downloaded the MS Messenger app and I use it daily since I forward all emails to that account anyhow…Why I have no idea…Loyalty?

It’s baseball season and well LET’S GO GIANTS! I got the MLB iPhone App so I can keep tabs on my boys the SF Giants because we need to win! Admittedly after I watched Moneyball I have a soft spot for the Oakland A’s so if the Giants aren’t playing I am watching them. This app keeps me in the know of the games and also quickly lets me buy tickets. Again where was I before the iPhone Apps?!

Ringtones app is another one I love and makes me chuckle daily. I swear the free ringtones alone will entertain you for hours or maybe just me…I’ve gone Robin Hood style on my ringtones as I would refer to it. Each tone has a trumpet or horn that expresses the importance of the text, email or facebook post.

I recently sent one of my pals a pimp-my-text message and I think I blew her mind! Another fun free App to utilize to through anyone off or surprise someone!

Get the Evite app! No explanation needed! If you ask you then you don’t know. I did my first yelp post from my iPhone as well for a local restaurant and felt pretty cool.

Please inform me of any apps you think I would enjoy to test out.

Nina’s fav free iPhone 4 apps this week…

by on April 18th, 2012

I went to play in the apple app store again before my trip to LA and downloaded every free app I could find to occupy my long drive to LA. I have always been able to make myself laugh at my own imagination however owning an iPhone 4 has enlightened my entertainment horizons.

First why the heck was I driving to LA? Last minute trip to see my cousin’s band Schwarzenator play at the Viper room. As any reasonable techy I downloaded Kayak and started checking out flights and also hotel deals. In minutes I had results and realized driving was my only option due to poor planning (totally my fault). I loved how quickly the Kayak app worked and also schooled me…j/k. Continue Reading…

The Gift of Pandora One

by on February 21st, 2012

I was gifted with the Pandora One and now that I have my iPhone 4 I wonder how I survived without it?! Those that know me well know I am a goof ball-I have a Pandora Kris Kross station and the humiliation does not stop there…I have an 80’s station and an NKOTB station…

To be honest this is one of the best gifts (not for all girls dudes) as music to me is the best way to escape or reminisce when life was simple. Usability was not only simple but being able to skip the BS with no commercials was a major plus! Below are the specs; if your chick is like me she will love this!

Pandora One

For a yearly payment of $36, Pandora listeners can upgrade to a Pandora One account. The benefits of Pandora One are:
• All advertising removed
• Access to the Pandora One Desktop App, which functions independently of a browser window
Higher Quality Audio – Listen to Pandora at 192 KBps on the web or in the Desktop App
• Increased number of skips – The 12 skip per day limit is removed (the 6 skips per station per hour limit remains)
Custom skins – Surround the Pandora tuner with a range of designs

What a Cute Geek wants for Valentines Day

by on February 5th, 2012

With Valentines day right around the corner, I decided to make a guide on what we would love to get for Valentines day. Please don’t call 1800-Flowers, or send me chocolates, and while a teddy bear would be nice, I really want technology and things to better use the technology I have.

Flowers die, chocolate gets devoured and end up on my thighs, but my technology last a full TWO months until a new version comes out – I kid, I kid. I had a bit of trouble on deciding on how many items to include in this short guide, but after the oh so wonderful win tonight (Go Giants!) I decided to just put 4 items – to highlight how much we won by… Continue Reading…

Happy New Year!

by on January 6th, 2012

Happy New Year everyone! I went on a much need overseas vacation, where I had limited access to technology so I am here with so many things to blog about.

First off, many may have noticed that we did not have giveaways during the holidays – we wanted to give you all the opportunity to get the gift-giving and shopping out of your system.  We will have contests coming up in the next couple of weeks, to help you protect those shiny gadgets you received over the holidays.

Every where you turn people are talking about their new year’s resolutions – the top ones are usually around losing weight, saving money, managing money, smoking, new jobs, etc.  CuteGeek.com has been working real hard on uncovering applications that help, services available thanks to technology, and just random information to get us all on the right path to a better year.

We will be writing about websites to use to save money, how to improve your credit and where to periodically check how it is doing, how to work out with a virtual trainer, tips for financial planning in this market, best times to shop, upcoming holidays this year and how to mentally/financially prepare, vacations, applications for your phones, etc.  We will also continue reviewing products, introducing the cool stuff at CES, etc.  This year I am not attending CES but will keep abreast of all of its happenings thanks to some friends that are traveling to Vegas this year.

We wanted to start the new year with a new brilliant woman in tech, but due to the vacations and conflicting schedules we were unable to.  I decided, although some may think it is narcisstic, to answer all of the questions myself.  Why? Because many people do not know who I am, where I am from/going, and why CuteGeek.com was started.  I also hope others are encouraged to recommend some brilliant women in technology.

Happy New Year everyone!

My Best Buy Holiday Wish list

by on October 31st, 2011

4032073358_ec63e763e8_oI’m a geek CuteGeek! And as a CuteGeek one of my favorite pass times is shopping, and one of my favorite places to shop at (especially during the holidays) is Best Buy and BestBuy.com. The reason is because their prices tend to blow out the competition, have a larger selection of items and typically have everything I want; from that big screen TV to that tiny keychain digital picture frame or as you can tell from my picture everything for my Wii (which I purchased last year)!

Best Buy is the spot to go to for batteries, movies, games and even some of your favorite child-hood candy since their checkout counters resemble the latest CVS – with a ton of impulse buys, that I, impulsely buy :) - it’s where I go when I need an electronic that I prefer to touch and feel, instead of just checking out through a click. That’s why our first sneak-peak holiday gift guide of the season are things that I want/have/recommend from Best Buy.
