I call my self a geek yet I have no idea what Ultimate Gaming and Esports Tournament  is however it’s happening in Vegas so I’m sure it will be a great time.  For those (like me) that don’t know what “Battle on the Strip” is its a recurring esports tournament series that features online brackets each month for a different IP from the top competitive video game titles.

It would be hilarious if I sign up since I am not that great of gamer and continue to screw up during the tournament. Or maybe not, don’t want to get the stink eye from the gamers.

Sprint Unveils Second TV Ad Starring Paul Marcarelli

I think this is one of the most clever and strategic marketing campaigns currently. It’s like Geico hiring Flo from Progessive. For those who haven’t seen the new commercials Sprint hired the actor, Paul Marcarelli, who used to ask if you “Could Hear Me Now” from Verizon. To give you an example of how fast this new campaign is growing the original TV ad featuring Marcarelli has been viewed more than 8 million times on YouTube. PERO WOW!

Today Sprint unveils the second TV Ad staring Paul Marcarelli and will make its debut tonight on CBS, NBC and FOX. If you are a commercial junky like me I suggest DVR’ing all three shows LOL.

The ad campaign will continue on cable and network stations nationwide and in print and digital channels. The Out-of-home and radio advertising featuring Marcarelli will also continue. Nintendo Entertainment System: NES Classic Edition Coming This November

My first gaming console was the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) in the 80’s. My younger brother and I would have epic arguments about Mario Bros., Duck Hunt (you aren’t winning Duck Hunt if you have the gun directly on the TV), Zelda, Knight Rider and Paper Boy. I was even so bold to press the reset button right when my brother was about to save the princess (not my finest moment).

Though we argued and fought we also bonded playing NES games even with the 6 year age gap. One of the main bonding moments is when we figured out the code to have continuous 1 Ups on Mario Bros. Another bonding moment is when the cartridge would not work and we were at drastic measures to get it working. Our MacGyver tactics of repositioning the cartridge using some folded up paper or blowing on the overheated cartridge are some of the best memories I had.

Nintendo 1

Excitingly in November you get to relive your NES experience as Nintendo will be releasing a smaller version of the classic NES console called the Nintendo Classic Mini. The design is a replica of the original NES but the size to fit in the palm of your hand. It will come pre-loaded with 30 of the classic NES games but will not have cartridges. The Nintendo Classis Mini can connect to a TV via HDMI and comes with the classic NES pad that can also be used on a Wii or Wii U. Gamers can also use a NES Classic Controller or Classic Controller Pro for two-player action.

DIZZY FEET FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES 7TH ANNUAL NATIONAL DANCE DAY ON JULY 30‏

For those that know me they know I love to dance, not that great at it but I try. I was excited to find out there is a National Dance Day and it’s also during the 2016 Classic Game Fest in Austin, Texas on July 30th. Picture it, me doing the Roger Rabbit, Kid n’ Play and Running Man from booth to booth at the convention center. That’s one way to celebrate National Dance Day and get noticed at the Classic Game Fest.

Dizzy Feet Foundation has partnered with Heely’s this year and will have live events in LA, Washington D.C. and Orlando on National Dance Day 2016. Dizzy Feet Foundation National Dance Day campaign encourages Americans to embrace dance as a fun and positive way to maintain good health and fight obesity.

Non dancers and dancers alike are invited to join Cyrus “Glitch” Spencer from So You Think You Can Dance for participation in the official National Dance Day routine. Additional performances will feature an educational behind-the-scenes experience from Orlando Ballet, as well as, students from the Dr. Phillips Center Florida Hospital School of the Arts summer programs. Rock Band, Harmonix and I have a long relationship since I started Cutegeek 7 years ago. The Beatles Rock band Release at E3 2009 had me up on stage (and we all know I do not like getting on stage) singing and ripping it up on the drums.  

I recently got word that one of my favorite all time songs has been added to the Rock Band line up, Pixies “Where is my mind?!”  They are also adding one of my all-time favorite singer/ song writer Billy Joel! See the press release below.
