We hope all our cutegeek fans have a FABULOUS New Years! Looking back over the past year and all these pictures I realized I had some amazing experiences plus cool products I got to review in 2015.

We want to thank all the companies or brands who sends us products to reviews and inviting us to events in 2015. We would also like to truly thanks all our fans who read our site and send nice notes on how much they love cutegeek.

In 2016 I promise will be even more exciting then 2015 with more product reviews, attending events like CES, SXSW, E3, Comic Con with Shatner as the host, ACL, and maybe the Napa Valley Film festival.

Here at cutegeek we wish you all a Happy New Year and a reminder to be safe! Uber it or have a DD if you can especially if you are in Austin. Thanks again to all the PR agencies, Start-ups, and most importantly our fans; without you all our site would not be as successful.

Cheers to 2016!

Nina is CES 2016 Bound

by on December 15th, 2015

CES Logo 2016Its official I’m going to the Consumer Electronic Show (CES) 2016 and covering it for Cutegeek, Examiner, and for the first time Hi-Tech Chic! I finally settled on flights and booked them! I think this flyer I got in the mail just made me realize I’m going to Vegas baby! I will only be at CES January fifth through the seventh, basically for Pepcom’s Digital Experience and Showstoppers so I don’t have to run around the convention center.CES pamplet

Pepcom’s Digital Experience and Showstoppers are my favorite events; it gives press the unique opportunity to see the latest and greatest of technology before it’s displayed or more up close than at the convention center.  Most of the people and products I personally want to view are usually at these two shows. I will also be doing some one off evening cocktail parties January the fifth and the sixth.

To my media friends; I have received over 500 email requests. I’m not sure how I got so popular but I’m only one person so I will start responding to those I will meet up with. Note I will not being going to the convention center only attending Pepcom’s Digital Experience and Showstoppers.

To check out what CES shenanigans I will be up to you can follow me on twitter at @nrpena, @cutegeek, and @hitechchic OR to get the recap or new posts about my CES 2016 experience check back on Cutegeek, Examiner, and Hi-Tech Chic.

So wish me luck and let the games begin!!

All information was provided by CES, Showstoppers and Pepcom’s sites.

Gift Guide for Bluetooth or Wi-Fi Speakers

by on December 7th, 2015

I got in allot of Bluetooth speakers to check out that are all in different price. I decided besides just photo’s I would record each product to the same song and same sound frequency to see the difference of them all. I chose the song Everlong by the foo fighters because I thought it would be great since it goes from slow to rock in the first 30 seconds plus I love Dave Grohl (who doesn’t).

Below you will find videos and specs of the 5 speakers so you can decide which one is right for your price point.ECOPEBBLE

Ecogear Pebbe Bluetooth Waterpoof Wireless Speaker is the perfect speaker for the outdoor adventurous music lover. It’s definitely rugged and I have tried it in the water playing music which for being under water the sound quality was not that bad. The Ecogear Pebbe Bluetooth Waterpoof Wireless Speaker has an easy plug and play it feature which means after I synced my Bluetooth the my phone and bingo it started working immediately. It currently goes for $59.99 their site and comes in three colors: orange, blue, or black.

UE ROLL is so far the best speaker for me personally. It’ circular shape offers a 360 audio experience and had stronger base then the others I tried (besides the Sonos). Since the speaker is water proof it also comes with a floatation device to hold the speaker perfectly. Since its wireless and Bluetooth plus being water resistant this is the perfect speaker for the lake. It’s currently on com and the pricing starts at $89.00.

The AYL Soundfit IPX5 Water Resistant Speaker was a pleasant surprise. Though I think the casing is a bit clunky the sound is great and the greatest feature is you can hang in the shower so you can rock out (believe you me I will be using this in the shower till I have to give it back). It’s also great for those who are active bicyclist, runners, hikers, and climbing since its shock proof. It’s currently $29.00 on Amazon but only 2 are left!AYL

Sonos 1I also had to throw in Sono’s Play 1 even though there is a new version and it’s not Bluetooth but it is Wi-Fi. The main reason I’m including it is not only is the sound amazing (I have 4 throughout my condo) but they are running a special right now for 2 Room Starter Set for only $349.00.
