If anyone is near the Big Apple – you may be wondering if Mother Earth is crying her eyes out, or crying tears of joy today.
Today marks the 42nd year that Earth Day is celebrated. While some argue that we should make everyday Earth Day, it is still a nice reminder to have this one day to show us things that we can do.
As of today, Philips has started selling their 10 Watt L Prize-Pro LED A19 Dimmable 2700k light bulb – expected to last over 20 years, save money and a lot of energy consumption. The price of the bulb will vary by location because many utilities are providing rebates and Home Depot is currently selling it for only $49.97
Last week, at Pepcom’s Annual EcoFocus event, I met a lot of new companies that are striving to improve and encourage sustainability amongst all ages. An interesting, and very fun campaign is ‘Littering is Wrong Too’. This campaign is highlighting wrongs that we’re all aware of (like drunk texting…that was the ‘wrong’ that I contributed). It is a very fun way to help keep America beautiful by understanding and acknowledging that littering is wrong.
The wonderful city that I live in, aka the Big Apple, has a lot of different initiatives going on, helping us become more green and some have started saying we’re going to be the Big Granny Smith 🙂 get it??
Happy Earth Day everyone…and in Barney’s voice…clean up, clean up, everybody, everywhere…clean up, clean up, everybody do your share.

Did you know that every year, the day after the good ol’ mass robbery (aka Tax Day), it’s National Wear Your PJs to Work Day!
It’s pretty awesome, if you asked me. I wish I could wear my pajamas to work. Oh wait – I can…I may get arrested though – jk! 🙂

I went to play in the apple app store again before my trip to LA and downloaded every free app I could find to occupy my long drive to LA. I have always been able to make myself laugh at my own imagination however owning an iPhone 4 has enlightened my entertainment horizons.
First why the heck was I driving to LA? Last minute trip to see my cousin’s band Schwarzenator play at the Viper room. As any reasonable techy I downloaded Kayak and started checking out flights and also hotel deals. In minutes I had results and realized driving was my only option due to poor planning (totally my fault). I loved how quickly the Kayak app worked and also schooled me…j/k. Continue Reading…

I saw the Intuit ad online and thought why not for the cure of Crohn’s and Colitis Next Steps walk for the cure fund raising?! The intuit credit card swipe is an amazing iPhone tool and app plus it works on Android as well.
The set up was pretty simple. I downloaded the app on my iPhone 4 and created a user account once I got my free credit card swipe in the mail. It connects to your 3.5 mm jack and requires no set up- just plug that sucker in. After downloading the app and plugging it in it was ready to go!
Next you will get a credit card in the mail for your Intuit account which again was simple. It’s a visa card and usable just like a credit card. I created my account online and BOOM I made my first swipe! My aunt for the cure of Crohn’s and Colitis Next Steps walk sent me a check in the mail therefore I cashed it and used the Intuit for the first time for my fund raising account.
OMG it was totally cool to charge your card on your phone…this could be dangerous…or fun but ease of use for this product is amazing…plus you can use this for fund raising which it has an app for.
Sweet deal, great for fund raising and cool to just bust out when your friends can’t front the bill…
Friend:”oh I’m sorry I don’t have cash”
You: “No problem I have my Intuit credit card swipe should I include your portion on the tip?”
Friend: (speechless and dumbfounded)
All in all this is being used for a good cause and I love it!

Skype has been around for years and its been on the map even before Microsoft bought them. I never used it though because if I was webcaming I did it through Windows Messenger. As texting raged across the world, even if it was only mine, the convenience of not plugging in to say something won the battle with the webcams – that and being able to take a picture and send it less than a minute later.

Many of us are used to booking travel through the typical websites, such as Kayak, Hotwire, Orbitz, Expedia, Priceline, etc. I honestly can’t even remember what traveling was like before the internet. Maybe I’m aging myself?
Just two years old, Hipmunk is a new take on travel, and it strives to make travel planning less agonizing. A cool feature about the travel website is that it displays flights in calendar format. All the usual flight info is included, however, you can also see if Wi-Fi is available on your flight so you can plan ahead on whether you want to use the travel time for leisure or for work. Obviously, Wi-Fi availability is subject to change depending on the carrier and any changes they make to planes.
