The Kikkerland Solar-Powered Double Rainbow Maker is a great-for-the-whole-family gadget that makes any on-the-go multi-tasker stand still and gape in wonder…BE in the moment…and challenges even the most inattentive grump to not exhale in wonder. It is a window hanging with two Swarovski crystals and a small solar panel that, when hit directly with sunlight, will rotates the crystals to create a world of rainbows gliding along the walls of your room…like magic. Mine has been hanging in my living room for over 18-months and it never fails to amaze me, my kids and guests when it is suddenly triggered by a ray of sunlight at an unexpected moment.


Imagine the magic a rainbow maker brings to a nursery, a children’s room or a hospital room..It is my absolute favorite baby shower or get-well-soon gift. We purchased ours at The MoMA store but you can get them on-line at Amazon. The unboxing is almost as much fun as seeing the rainbows for the first time! People open it, scratch their heads and smile awkwardly muttering ‘um..thanks’… not-quite-getting-what-it-is-but-grateful-you-thought-of-them-nonetheless. I have given them in person, sent them in care packages and even secretly hung one in a depressed friend’s home unbeknownst to them and the reaction was always the same…wide-eyed wonder and amazement…a moment in the NOW. How many gadgets can do that?
