If you’ve noticed that you haven’t been sleeping that great, I hate to tell you, but it might be due to your laptop (or iPad, phone, or any electronic with artificial light). The National Sleep Foundation has performed studies that link sleepless nights to the usage of electronics before bed.
“Artificial light exposure between dusk and the time we go to bed at night suppresses release of the sleep-promoting hormone melatonin, enhances alertness and shifts circadian rhythms to a later hour, making it more difficult to fall asleep.” (Huffington Post)
No, I’m not saying that we have to give up our gadgets, but merely reminding you to leave some time to yourself at the end of the day. Sleep is very important for not only mental health but also for physical health! So at the end of the night take some time and sip some tea, read a book, or my favorite STRETCH!
