HP Helps Designers Push Limits of Innovation on Lifetime Television’s Hit Series “Project Runway”

by on July 30th, 2010

Hp announced another merging into fashion with the  release of their HP TouchSmart tm2 and HP TouchSmart PC on Project Runway which premiered on July 29, 2010.  The new  Touch Smart tm2  allows  designers  to move from the traditional way of design to a new way of design.

The tm2 allows for designers to rotate its screen allowing them to turn the TouchSmart tm2 into a digital sketchpad, giving designers freedom to create  what they envision. Its not the  first time  HP makes an appearance  on project runway,  in the 7th  season designers  were able to try HP’s savvy technology in the ” HP and Intel design challenge” giving them  and opportunity to break their design mold and step it up a notch.

The winning designer of season eight will receive a $50,000 prize package from HP and Intel to create, design and run his or her own business.

Design Your Own Eyewear

by on July 29th, 2010

Ever thought of designing your own eye wear? Ever since Nike started allowing you to customize their sneakers, I always think of how i could add my own ‘umph’ to something. I wear glasses and some may say I look geeky or like a nerd, like it’s a bad thing. I personally feel it adds a level of sophistication to how I look. I also say they make me look smart, but ultimately, I fell in love with black plastic framed glasses long before before Kenneth Cole made them sophisticated, and way before Jay Z made them cool to wear.

Due to the fact that a pair of eyeglasses can make you or break you, I’ve never purchased a pair online. I go down the traditional route – where I go to a store, start pointing like an air traffic controller, and try them on, as I tilt my head in a thousand ways and pick up my hair to see how it would look with all my styles. This is the most important part to buying a pair of new ones if you asked me – it’s all about the look, and how comfortable you feel in them.

Motorola Backflip Reviewed

by on July 11th, 2010

The Motorola Backflip is an AT&T smart phone running Motorola’s Android OS, called MOTOBLUR. The backflip has a pretty cool design– the front of the phone, which is a full glass screen that, when off and viewed straight on, looks a lot like a mini-iPhone, flips open by rotating towards the front (backwards from the usual way flip phones work). This makes for a pretty slick little device that you want to slide open and closed over and over, just for fun.

In its full open position, the Backflip has a backlit soft button keyboard, and a completely unique trackpad on the backside of the screen– when holding the phone, your index fingers could go behind the front screen to navigate the interface with the trackpad. Continue Reading…

Motorola H17txt Reviewed

by on July 11th, 2010

The Motorola H17txt bluetooth earpiece looks like many others– it hooks onto your ear with a relatively small form factor, and has a little boom that opens outwards from being folded in, which effectively turns the device on and off. It’s lightweight and pretty comfortable, in so far as when you have it in your ear, its easy to forget about it and leave it in as you exit your car (and thereby expose yourself to the people on the street as a potential “tool-with-headset-but-not-in-car”). One very special feature, however, makes this headset pretty unique– it has the ability to read out incoming texts to you, and when programmed correctly, respond to senders with an auto-reply that lets them know (via text) that you’re driving  but will get back to them when you finish.

Girls Out Loud Episode 05: Synthetic Blood and Robots, aka Minority Report

by on July 11th, 2010

Cristina and Maya are fascinated by DARPA’s initiative to farm synthetic blood, which has been achieved by a biotech company in Ohio, as well as research being done by robotics students around the world trying to make teachers out of robots (brilliant!). The girls puzzle over Facebook activation numbers for the past month falling of a cliff from 7.8M to just 320,000 new accounts in the US for the month! Google Games plus Zynga, and Reddit Gold also make the list of topics the ladies break down in this episode. [Oh, and pardon the occasional echo. Technical difficulties… :(… ]

Girls Out Loud Episode 04: A day late but no bucks short

by on July 5th, 2010

As we both have very full time jobs, (while no excuse, but kinda..) excuse us for putting the show up so much later than it should be up– to make up for it, however, not a single one of these stories is no longer relevant! In fact, if anything, the iPhone 4 is even bigger news, as the antennae issues put it on everyone’s radar, Twitter is still invariably being used to annonce dumb shizz, and Microsoft is, alas, still headed fast  into the can. In the meantime, help us stay on top of things by emailing us your comments, feedback, and questions! Love! Maya(@girlsoutloudshow.com) and Cristina (@girlsoutloudshow.com).

Gamer Grub

by on July 2nd, 2010

[singlepic id=41 w=320 h=240 float=right]Gamer Grub is the ideal snack for gamers because it is packed with essential vitamins and neurotransmitters that will be sure to provide you with an extra boost of energy and memory power to help you beat the next battle. It is also very easy to eat – you tear, tilt and enjoy. Its grease-less – which is greattttttttttttt! I won’t say you won’t get crumbs on you, but you don’t have to worry about having ultra shiny controllers. I tried some of them out – actually I tried all of them out and really enjoyed them. If you want to watch my initial response to tasting the BBQ ones – check it out below…

Gamer Grub is available in 4 difference flavors (BBQ, P&J, Pizza and Smores) and can be purchased at your local Barnes & Noble, Game Stop, etc. – for a list of fine retailers please click here.

Also, if you have the time, read how it was created – it’s pretty funny…(http://gamergrub.com/blog/index.php)

Wicked Audios Metallics

by on July 1st, 2010

[singlepic id=40 w=320 h=240 float=right]Wicked Audio makes a lot of trendy, ‘hip’, audio products that add that extra umph some of us need while rocking out to our latest tunes. The latest and greated in Wicked’s collection are their Metallics – which as the name suggest are their cute earbuds in metallic colors. I received a pink pair to try out and I liked them from the moment my eyes caught a glimpse. I immediately started wondering how much ‘better’ earbuds will have to get before they’re considered bad for us.

I can’t lie, I love having earbuds on. The freedom of being able to listen to my own music and sounds that bring me pleasure is just liberating – I love it. I really enjoyed trying these headphones out, they are pink (my new fav. color despite me not considering myself to be girly). I use them at work, on my commute to work (plane) and to work out.
