Review: JBL ROXY On-Ear Headphones Reference 430

by on July 15th, 2009

the boxStyle, meet sound.

I remember reading about this collaboration and I quickly imagined some cool products with superb sound quality.

My current bathing suit for the summer of 09 is from Roxy and my old iPod dock is the round one JBL produced – so yea, I know what I’m talking about.

I was psyched when they asked CuteGeek to review earbuds and headphones…I’m a headphone wearer so Nina got the earbuds and I saw them and my mouth just opened.

First off – the box is really nice. Bright colors, clear, nice designs, etc…very “llamativo” (that’s a word used for things that are eye-catching or grabbing…it definitely grabs your attention). The headphones were bright orange and pink. I looked at the box for about a week, before actually taking them headphones out, and I’m not sure why, but I can almost admit that I was intimidated.

Review: Radius Atomic Bass Earphones

by on July 15th, 2009

earphones shotEarphones or Headphones? That is the question.

It’s the same as asking someone if they’re PC or Mac…I used to be indifferent. I only had a preference when it came to certain activities. For example, I dislike headphones (w/ squishy cushions) when I work out – why? Because if I sweat, its nasty. It absorbs it and its just nasty to me. To work out, I prefer the ones that wrap around your ear, and go (slightly) into your ear. They’re the most comfortable, and don’t block out all the noise around you, which helps, especially if you’re running outside, crossing streets, etc…

Noise cancellation headphones/earphones are great on the plane because there is just so much noise on it. It helps me focus, concentrate, sleep, block out where I’m at, etc. I also use them on the train. The noise cancellation headphones I wear are very uncomfortable to sleep in though because they’re so big. I still attempt it though – every since time I have them.

I was never an earbud wearer, and I’m not quite sure why, but I just never really owned my own pair. Radius sent CuteGeek their Radius Atomic Bass Earphones and the first thing that came to mind was “woohoo – no more huge carrying case!”

Review: Core Cases for iPod Video 80GB

by on July 15th, 2009

IMG_0900At one point in time the goal for every gadget owner is to preserve its greatness.

That greatness can vary. For headphones, maybe it’s the crystal clear sounds. For phones, the greaseless screen…for iPods, it’s everything.

How can I keep my iPod looking brand spanking new, without causing uncomfy bulges to appear in my clothes or bags, and how can I optimize its use.

Core Cases has nailed it.

When I first got my iPod back in 07 (I wasn’t an early adapter…I had a Dell DJ) I wanted a case that wasn’t hard, because I thought the big plastic ones were ‘big’ and ‘bulky’ – yuck. I wanted something that could ensure my iPod’s survival in my ever so changing and exciting world, so I opted for a rubber sleevelike cover.

I lost my voice on Black Sabath and QOTSA DLC Rockband 2!

by on July 8th, 2009

This past weekend was my birthday and we celebrated!  One crazy day I got download crazy and with Rockband DLC of QOTSA and Black Sabath. Admitedly I have been in a few mosh pits (Foo Fighters, FuManchu, Weezer, QOTSA) and saw QOTSA back stage at ACL in 2007 (I love you Josh);  so new songs for Rockband make me HAPPY! Plus I love to ROCK! or DANCE!

So I lost my voice on Black Sabath’s “War Pigs”, I love that song! In fact I use to belt that song out in our music room back in Texas!

drums

The drums were a challenge…I…of course had to play medium and… man o man it was tough!  I LOVED THE CHALLENGE THOUGH!  We had to literally restart several times before we finally got the grove…not like we picked an easy DLC!  Plus, QOTSA and Black Sabath drumming is a challenge, again I loved it!  A couple times I sang and I am sure this was the demise of my voice lose. Again though I enjoyed the drums more…I always do…its too much fun!

Signed the Queen of Rockband for cutegeek.
